SANDBOX system at II. Primary School Varaždin
On June 26th and 27th, 2023, the installation and education of the SANDBOX system took place at II. Primary School Varaždin. The installation and localization of the system were conducted by experts Nemanja Vojvodić and Aleksandar Gajić from the partner organization NT Gruppen AS. The training for working with the system was led by Branimir Simić, the head of Partner 2.
NT Gruppen has developed an augmented reality gamified system called SANDBOX, which enables learning through play in a sandbox – https://www.ntgruppen.no/eduaktiv/sandbox. Augmented reality technology – the SANDBOX system allows the study of various natural phenomena, geographical landscapes, or historical events. Due to the tactile and visual nature of interaction, there is a higher probability of a positive reaction from students with mentioned difficulties.
The functionality of the SANDBOX system can be seen at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/F1B77A4nFq4
NT Gruppen AS specializes in the development of web platforms, applications, and tools used to facilitate science education in schools. They also work on the development of new pedagogical solutions through AR (augmented reality). They connect new technology and education in an exciting way through interaction and play. They collaborate with some of the leading European researchers on educational projects where important elements of children’s mental development and functional knowledge are stimulated through methods coordinating motor movements and preventing concentration and attention disorders. They have developed several mobile applications such as Norgano, Allergenfri, Stamp & Save, and Nomon. NT Gruppen AS will participate in the project by adapting and localizing their Nomon systems (meteor tracking system) and Sandbox for II. Primary School, mentoring teachers in system usage, and conducting educational workshops for teachers in the areas of gamification and e-learning.
The SANDBOX system and developed gamified cognitive agents will be tested in the development of workshops. If successful, they will be integrated into the school’s regular curriculum.
